Genre: Hardcore, screamo
Demersal is a Danish hardcore/screamo band that creates music in constant tension between control and collapse. Their sound universe moves effortlessly between the violent and the vulnerable, from chaotic meltdowns and abrupt noise to calmly constructed, almost dreamy passages.
The band’s music draws on hardcore, mathcore and post-rock, and contains a special melodic nerve through the use of piano, cello and trumpet, which add air, warmth and sharpness to the otherwise dense soundscape. With four vocalists who switch between furious screams and quiet presence, a polyphonic expression emerges that is both intense and sensitive.
The songs revolve around anxiety, meaninglessness and care, themes that are played out in a time marked by dissolution, doubt and crisis. The music becomes not only an expression of pain and powerlessness, but also an insistence on community and fragility as strength. It is music that searches for something human in the ruins of what used to be.
Demersal doesn’t just create a concert, they create a state. A powerful, contrasting experience where beauty and desperation exist side by side.
