AddisAbabaBand plays an intense and swinging Afro-beat. It is a cosmic vessel whose fuel is Afro, funk, jazz, avant-garde, tight beats and collective improvisation. Up front is a crisp and cohesive horn section supported by a super-swinging bass/gui/keys group on a bed of captivating beats.

The band has played a ton of gigs since then. Both at venues around the country, at festivals and abroad. One of the band’s highlights was a sea of people at Roskilde Festival 2018. The music is written and arranged together.

This makes AddisAbabaBand a fantastic live band, as the collective input of 12 people creates an irresistible energy on stage. With improvisation as the driving force, a space is created in which everyone can dance away together.
